“Well this is it.” I said, motioning to that big empty lot I owned.
“Nadia! It’s huge!” He exclaimed.
“The LOT is, but that’s all I have.” I pointed to the sink, toilet, shower, and bed.
He looked over at the bed. “We’re going to need a bigger one.”
I stared up at him. “Ya think?”
“So what do you do? Ya know, as a career?” I asked, sitting on our brand new bed.
“Oh. Well I’m an assistant dishwasher…. But I want to be a comedian.”
“Then why don’t you go into entertaining?”
“It’s not ‘acceptable’ according to my all knowing mother.”
“That’s crazy! She should encourage you to follow your dreams, not whatever the plum she’s doing!”
“Sorry,” I said, “but not sorry..”
“You should follow your dream!” I assured him. “If it’s money, well I got the one of the highest paying jobs, it’s obviously in tech, and I just got a promotion.”
“I don’t know…”
“It’s worth a shot, Mitch. Do what you want for a change.”
“I did that when I got up the courage to ask you out.”
Am I blushing? I’m blushing. “That’s so sweet!”
We adjusted to our new lives pretty quickly.
The lot was on the island and it was definitely private, which was good as could be because everything was out in the open. No kidding. Just after he moved in, I got the first set of bills, which was $399 and more than we had until we got our paychecks for the day and we were able to pay, thank goodness. We went to all the way to Waterside Warble in the city to celebrate. Mitch insisted we have some fun that isn’t getting drunk, and I was so surprised he offered-more like insisted that we go to the city where he grew up. He is becoming my best friend.
A/N: I’m really excited for the next chapter!
