“Hey, Jonathan.” I asked.
“Yeah, what’s up, Selena?”
“Well, I was thinking, maybe we should renovate/expand the house.” I bit my lip. It was a dumb idea.
“We do have 16,000 to spend… but why now?”
I sighed. Jonathan could be so stupid sometimes. I’d already said it, so might as well explain. “Because,” I started, “Considering you’ll probably be marrying Yumiko soon, and then you’ll probably have kids, and I’d marry someone too, I think we should add on to the house. We’re grown ups now, and we’re going to have our own lives and families.”
“Whoa whoa whoa! Slow your roll, sis! I’m just getting my head wrapped around the idea of marrying my girlfriend, Yumiko, I’m certainly not thinking about kids, and I don’t see you with anyone! But…I see your point. We will need to expand the house, and why wait. But still!”
“So we are doing it right?”
“Yes. But I think that you are thinking like 15 steps ahead when you really gotta be thinking like 2 steps ahead.”
We ended up not having enough money to complete the project, but it still turned out pretty nicely, at least on the inside! With the fact that we needed more money to complete the house, and probably pay the bills now… Both Jonathan and I got a job. I got a job as a writer, which is just perfect! The minute I saw the job offer, I knew that one was perfect, after all, I wanted to be an author! Jonathan took seemingly forever, but he finally settled on a being a businessman. In his own words, ‘Sitting down all day, meeting new people to invite to future parties, perfect.’ I know he wants to be a party animal, but that will have to wait until we can actually afford those parties! Mom and I have been betting on when Jonathan will finally ask Yumiko ‘the question’. I’m sure it can’t be long, I mean I found them in my room-yes, my room, making out. Like come on bro! You have your own room now! Go over there! Yeesh.
That’s right! Mom hasn’t died yet! Her ‘life bar’ just started shimmering. Jonathan and I are always chatting & laughing with her. We want to enjoy every moment we have left with her. While nobody is ever ready to lose their parent, we want to be more ready than we were when Dad died.
“So how were your first days of work?” Mom asked. Such a mom thing to say…
“Well, good. I really like my job! It’s helping me write so much better!”
“I like mine too,” Jonathan added, “It’s actually so much better than I thought it would be!”
“That’s great you guys!”
“You know what’s funny?” I asked.
“All this renovation and we still have our tiny tv!”
A/N: So I don’t have a set schedule for when new chapters come out…I just seem to put a ton out on the weekend 😉 anyway I hope you’re enjoying Selena…we’ve got like 50 chapters of generation 2!
