Chapter 2.04: Not Surprising

“Mom, Selena. I have something to tell you guys.”

“Does it possibly have to do with the fact you were gone all night?” I asked.

“Possibly.”

I laughed. “Well, tell us!”

“Yumiko and I are engaged!”

Wow! We all knew it was happening…but still! “Congrats, bro!”

“Congratulations!” Mom exclaimed, “Now, Selena, give me 20 simoleons…”

“You guys bet on this?!”

“Yep. I said 2 weeks ago…”

“Selena!”

“And Mom said this weekend.” I continued.

“Well if you really want to know…”

“And we do…”

“I was going to wait, ok. But I wanted Mom to be there, and we don’t know when she’s gonna die.”

That was actually nice. Like really nice. “Jonathan, that’s cool.”

“Thanks, Jonathan,” Mom said, “so when’s the wedding going to be?”

“Tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow?!”

“Yes, Selena! Anyway, when I proposed it was so amazing…”

  4. Loved how they bet on this, lol! ““I was going to wait, ok. But I wanted Mom to be there, and we don’t know when she’s gonna die.” That was actually nice. Like really nice.” That’s nice, though I’d be a bit creeped out if I was the mom and my son said it like that. You never know, there’s no life bar in real life!
