Chapter 2.05: Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Clemonte

We were running around crazily to get ready for the wedding. Weddings are hard enough already to plan, but a literal last minute wedding is something else altogether. I got to say, Jonathan’s bride-to-be is really nice. He found an amazing girl.

“Yumiko!” I called, “did you find a dress yet?”

“Yeah!”

Dress shopping in 2 hours was amazing, but super fast paced. Yumiko found a gorgeous long, white dress, and I found a simpler short white dress. I was so not upstaging the bride!

“Hey, mom?”

“Yeah?”

“What are you wearing?”

“You’ll have to wait and see!”

I still can’t believe that we pulled it off. It was perfect though, that they were set to be married at midnight. Yumiko had always wanted a night wedding, and midnight just seemed perfect, so midnight it was. Mom and I watched as they became husband and wife under a lantern-lit pathway.

“So, how does it feel to be married?” I asked.

“A lot like not being married, but it is amazing. Now I know nobody could take your brother away from me!”

“I would never let myself be taken away from you, Yumiko!” Jonathan laughed.

“I’m really happy that I got to see you guys get married,” Mom said, “and I have a new daughter-in-law, too!”

“Yeah! I have a new mother-in-law, and sister-in-law!”

I smiled. “I will be a great sister-in-law!” 

“Let’s get rid of the ‘in-law’ part. I already feel like you guys are family!” Yumiko gushed.

“Let’s.” I agreed.

I know they were happy to be married, but, let’s just say, apparently some things can’t wait… like seriously?!

The wedding was a success, all the way up to where they shared their first bite of cake as husband and wife. Mom made them a delicious cake, and it tasted so good! They thought so too. I can’t wait for my wedding…hopefully I’ll meet someone soon.
