Chapter 2.39: Birthday

Staying up late talking to my family was not exactly the best idea… I passed out before I could get to my bed. I was always exhausted, and never seemed to get enough sleep, so talking for hours was the final straw. Of course when I woke up, I was very uncomfortable. My back was actually hurting me.

I almost thought I missed Addie’s birthday. I didn’t, though, and I quickly baked her a cake, almost falling over. I really needed to rest, but I couldn’t miss my daughter’s birthday! She grew up into a beautiful young girl.

I was now 41 weeks, and I could hardly wait to get this baby out of me. I was going to hold a baby in my arms again. I was going to give birth again. Damn. I sighed, trying to get more comfortable. These days it seemed like there was always something bugging me. Particularly, my bladder. I could hardly sit down for a few minutes without having to rush off just so I wouldn’t pee my pants.

I brought my dinner, yogurt, over to my room, so I could sit on my bed. It was silent, a welcome change. I felt insanely uncomfortable, it was like everything decided to cramp up on me. I gasped, laying my clenched hand on my huge belly. I felt like I could hear my heartbeat pounding.

I was in labor for the third time. This time, though, I’d be doing it alone. I counted quietly to myself the time between contractions…and I realized this baby was not coming anytime soon. I pulled back the covers, and decided to sleep for as long as I could.

I woke up in excruciating pain. I wasn’t even able to count.

“Kiara!” I screamed. Watcher, why the plum wasn’t she answering? “Kiara! Get down here!” Plum. I felt sweat running down my face. I clamped my hands on my belly, trying to get through the next contraction. I collapsed on the nursery sofa, hoping this would be over soon. Where the plum was Kiara?! I gasped, trying not to scream. If Addie and Lexie woke up, this would be a nightmare.

I was able to push 12 hours later, at 3:19 am.

I couldn’t stop myself from screaming this time, as I pushed through the pain. I suddenly felt a gush of liquid come out, which I realized was pee. I was peeing myself. Plum. My baby son or daughter, that’s why I was doing this. All I could do was remember that. I stood up in my wet clothes, ready for this to be over. Watcher, please, let everything be ok.

I just felt like… Derek, he should be here. The whole time I felt him there. Especially when I held my baby boy in my arms.

When I finally got Mason-my son, to sleep, I practically… well, I did-pass out. For those 20 minutes, I felt no pain. I felt nothing. When I woke up, everything hit me at once. The pain of giving birth…I felt like I’d been split open.

Then, to make matters worse, I went upstairs to check on Addie and Lexie, and I found Kiara, passed out, dressed up, and literally glowing. Watcher, I thought she wanted to grow up. That doesn’t mean going out till 4 in the morning, and coming home to pass out, probably drunk!

“Kiara.” I whispered. “Kiara Elle Clemonte, get up.” I couldn’t help but admire her shoes. There was no way I could walk in those anymore. Damn it, I don’t have time for this. I need to get some sleep. It wasn’t me who went out. “I’m leaving you there.” I walked back down. I couldn’t believe Kiara. She was a young adult now!

Everyone, it’s picture number 300! 🙂

  1. Hm thought Kiara might be more help. Is she glowing from the romance festival or for other reasons??? At least Selena won’t have anymore babies after this. Every pregnancy was an ordeal!
