Chapter 3.03: The End

“Are you sure your parents aren’t here?”

“Yes, okay? Why does it even matter?”

“Georgia, I told you, I’m not ready.”

She sighed. “Fine. Let’s just watch tv.”

As we reached the bottom of the stairs, I realized her mom was there… crap.

“Mom, what are you doing here?” Georgia asked.

“My meeting let out early. Who’s this?”

Georgia gestured toward me. “Uh, she’s…”

I was absolutely freaked out because I had no idea what she’d say, so I said quickly, “I… I’m her friend.”

“Ok.” Her mom said. “I’m just going to be cooking dinner.”

“We’re going back up.” Georgia pulled me up the stairs. “Am I not good enough for you?”

“No, of course not!”

“I came out so I could be me, Addie. I want to tell everyone you’re my girlfriend, I want to hold your hand when we walk down the street, I want to take you out on a date.”

“What are you saying?” I asked, even though I knew exactly what she meant.

“I’m sorry.”

“Wait, please!” A million thoughts were running through my head, but I focused on one. The one that said not to let her leave. I didn’t want to lose my girlfriend.

She stepped back. “Addie, I’m sorry. I really am.”

It’s not my fault… it’s not. I know that. But if I believed that, I wouldn’t be here right now. I wouldn’t be crying over the end of my first relationship. Over the first girl I’d even kissed. Over the first person I ever loved.

The worst part is I can’t tell anyone about it. I cried myself to sleep that night. Quietly as possible.

  1. I’m so sad for Addie. But she will come out when she’s ready.

  2. That was very unfair of Georgia, but at the same time I understand her position (I’ve been in a similar one before)! Coming out isn’t something that anyone can force on someone else. Addie needs to do it on her own and when she’s ready. It must be frustrating for Georgia to not be able to treat Addie like her girlfriend in public, but it’s sad she didn’t understand enough to support Addie’s need to wait.
Oh well! I hope this just means Addie’s destined for someone who CAN be more supportive and stick with her!

    1. Yeah, Addie will find someone who’s great for her! I’m glad I wrote it well enough you could understand both of their positions!

  5. There is something so sad about the Cry it out animations with them under the covers. You can’t even see them and yet, it tears at that heart.

  6. Aww, poor Addie. 😦 I’m just listening to a song called “Come out and play” with lyrics saying, “Don’t hide away”, lol.
