Chapter 3.08: A Date

I was sitting down, waiting for Lexie. We walked home from school together and she was just going to get some pretzels.

“Hey.” I looked up to see a girl I vaguely knew from school.

“Uh, hi?”

She sat down next to me on the wooden bench. “I’m Lucinda. You’re Adelaide, right?”

“Yeah, that’s me.” I stared at her, confused. “Why?”

She suddenly blurted out, “You’re really pretty!” I eyed her, surprised. “Uhm…I didn’t mean to say that! But you are pretty.”

“Thank you.” I wasn’t sure what to say right now.

“I meant to ask you if you wanted to go on a date.” Lucinda finally admitted.

“A date? Like a date-date?”

“Yeah, a date. Uhm…romantically.”

Watcher. A real date. She was nice…and I wouldn’t mind getting to know her better. But this would mean coming out. But before I had a chance to really think, I heard myself saying, “Yes.”

“Ok then.” Lucinda smiled. “Here’s my number. I’ll text you, ok?”

“Yeah.” I watched her walk away, and I couldn’t help but smile.

“Addie?” I looked up to see my sister. “I’m ready to go.”

“Ok, let’s go.” I thought about my date the whole walk home. How could I not?

  2. Damn! Bold! Not the lesbian way at all! But clearly it works. Also, aside, but your header made me realize that Adelaide is, like, really really pretty.

    1. One of her traits is actually self-assured 😄 but I totally agree with you, she’s so brave!

  4. Go for it, if you just go up and ask, the worst they say is no – which hurts – as Lexie finds out – but lets you move on faster.

  5. Oh, I think the news in school has spread that she had a girl and is now single, lol.
