Just Playing: Generation Three – Part I

So, I thought of this idea after adayinthesimslife was reading my old chapters 🙂 I ended up reading them as they went through them and I realized I sort of miss remembering things about the moment I took that picture and their sim-life. Don’t get me wrong, I love where my writing is now and definitely enjoy writing a plot based story, but I just wanted to have a bigger connection to their in-game lives. You can think of this as a spin-off of sorts, where I – like I used to – play them, take some screenshots of what happened, and make a little ‘chapter’ out of it 😄 These will not replace the actual story, they’re just an extra, and will probably have more references to the game and stuff (like including their moodlet). I don’t have a schedule for when these will come out since it’s just when I feel like playing them, so we’ll see! I’d definitely love your guys’ feedback on this since it’s very different from the actual story, it’s just simple, fun, and lighthearted! Enjoy!

We were up at 2 in the morning after watching a movie (and its sequel) in Lexie’s place. Well, Dani and I were, anyway! Lexie was already fast asleep. I was feeling pretty confident about my story-telling skills just then and spun up an very unbelievable tale out of thin air about what happened to the characters after the sequel’s ending.

“…and they ended up on a secluded island with all the gold they could ever want, safe from the villain’s grasp,” I finished, impressed that I’d pulled it off as Dani didn’t look totally lost.

“That’s… definitely movie material,” Dani giggled.

I eyed her, knowing there was no way it was movie material. Some of the stories she ends up telling could be, though! Our kids are going to love listening to her stories.

“No way, you’re just being nice.”

“Nope. I’ll admit, it could’ve been better…but it was still good. Especially accounting for the fact you made it up on the spot!”

My confidence inspired me to attempt a backflip off our diving board….at 2 am…in the middle of spring, when it was still cool out. On top of that, it was raining… I’ve never even jumped off a diving board, I don’t know what I was thinking!

“Well, here we go!” I exclaimed, once again glad we had no nearby neighbors to hear or see us. We were just free to live our lives.

I imitated the position I’d seen divers take, and jumped. Before I knew it, I was plummeting towards the water’s surface, and before I had time to react, I found myself submerged in water.

It didn’t sway my confidence one bit, though my whole body still stung from the impact. A few minutes of sitting on the edge, swirling my hand around the cool water was all it took before I was up on the diving board again. In hindsight, I should have at least stood on the diving board backward last time! There’s no way you can do a backflip if you start off facing forward, to my knowledge, anyway. I took a few deep breaths, driving the reminder that ‘I’d never done a backflip before’ out of my mind. I was going to have done one after tonight. I was determined.

And I was right! I somehow managed to backflip into the water, surprisingly smoothly. It definitely hurt less than last time. My wife had been hard at work fixing our outdoor stereo all this time. She’s pretty handy with things like that, and she’s our go-to-person if something breaks. It definitely saves money. I just hope she doesn’t get electrocuted or something, working on this stereo out in the rain.

After it just kept breaking, no matter how many times she was fixing it, we realized it really needed to be under cover… electronics can’t get rained on. Which seems like a really stupid thing to not think about, but we’ve just recently got rain and all this stuff! You could keep stereos outside forever before that, but not anymore.

Some days it feels like we’re still that young couple, each of us crazily enamored with the other. If anything, our love for each other has become more meaningful and loving. I’m so proud to be married to this wonderful woman. And we aren’t afraid to show our love for each other. We still are always flirting, and I can’t wait to see her when she comes home from work. I dreamed of a marriage like this ever since I was a teen. Sometimes wishes do come true.

A/N: I hope you guys like this, I’m very excited to be putting something that relates more to their in-game lives into this! If anyone has any questions about how these will fit into the story even after reading my explanation at the beginning, just ask! 🙂 These do represent the gen 1 chapters more, since they’re made the same way, relying almost entirely on gameplay. Stay tuned for the actual next chapter I’ll be posting tomorrow, right on schedule!

    1. Yeah, after all the plot based stuff, it’s nice to write a simple little chapter! I can’t wait to know what you think when you get to Adelaide’s story!

  5. As much fun as plot-driven Sim stories are, I will always have a love these gameplay based stories and posts! They remind me of Sims 3 legacy stories I used to read and adored. I’m glad you found a solution to the dilemma of wanting to play and write about what happens game-wise! And I’m really glad you can do it in a way that still fits into the story 😃😃😃

    1. Yep! I’m super happy about it and I’m glad you like them! 😄 I’ve never seen something like this in other legacy stories so I didn’t know if people would be interested!

      1. I think since it still works into the story and with the characters, it’s definitely something people would be interested in! Honestly, I think these little game-driven snippets of the character’s lives could easily fit into a normal chapter, too, especially if you decide to try adding more screens to posts!
